The Jigen is a Drop hat made of sea straw in natural color decorated with grosgrain belt and a very special bow in red color copertino. The peculiarity of this hat is to give your look a very sporty connotation but at the same time elegant.
Typically American and born in the first twenty years of the twentieth century, the Drop is a reworking of the most classic forms, such as the Fedora. It is the shape of the hat worn by Indiana Jones during his fantastic adventures. In the Sixties this model underwent a resizing of the brim and Doria 1905 decided to make this shape the protagonist of its collections.
The Jigen hat is worked by craftsmen from Salento with the only help of steam and heat, pulling it by hand on wooden forms in a delicate way so that it maintains its renowned lightness and freshness. It is very important that the fibers do not close each other leaving the weave enough space for light to filter through, giving a special and shiny look to the straw.
Sea Straw, also known as Seagrass, is a rough, light and breathable weave. It is an innovative and sustainable material, made using and exploiting the natural characteristics of Poseidonia without the addition of chemical treatments. The Posidonia oceanica, also known as "Neptune's grass", is a very common seaweed in the Mediterranean seas. In tourist resorts it is disposed of as waste because its dead parts are brought to the shore fouling the beaches. Its use is in the name of eco-sustainability and it is perfect to create weaves and then hats. The result is a completely renewable product, absolutely green and respectful of our precious ecosystem.
